Flagship Launches Junior Captain Challenge for Kids Free October Harbor Tours

Two kids cruise free with each paid adult during Kids Free San Diego, plus young explorers can take on Flagship's Junior Captain Challenge
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - September 2026 - October is Kids Free San Diego, and Flagship Cruises & Events is offering families a way to experience the city from the water. Throughout October, two children cruise free with each paid adult on Flagship's San Diego Harbor Tours, giving families the opportunity to explore San Diego Bay together.
This year, kids can do more than take in the scenery. Flagship has introduced the Junior Captain Challenge, a free onboard scavenger hunt and quiz designed to encourage young passengers to look, listen and discover as they cruise the bay.
Junior Captains are challenged to spot some of San Diego Bay's most recognizable landmarks, from the Star of India and USS Midway to California sea lions, the Coronado Bridge, Hotel del Coronado and the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. Along the way, participants answer questions covering San Diego history, local wildlife, maritime traditions and the working waterfront.

Choose Your San Diego Bay Adventure
Families can select from Flagship's North Bay, South Bay or Full Bay Harbor Tours, with each route offering a distinct perspective on San Diego.
The North Bay route heads toward Point Loma, where passengers can look for Shelter Island, California sea lions near the bait barges and the historic Point Loma lighthouse. The South Bay route covers San Diego's working waterfront, with views of the Coronado Bridge, Hotel del Coronado, Navy vessels and the area's shipbuilding and repair facilities.
Families who book the Full Bay Tour can take in both sides of the harbor - and Junior Captains have the opportunity to complete the full challenge from start to finish.
Kids can mark their answers directly on the activity sheet as they cruise, and parents can scan the QR code on the sheet to check responses and access additional facts about the landmarks spotted along the way.
Kids Free Throughout October
Flagship's Kids Free offer runs October 1-31, 2026, as part of the annual Kids Free San Diego celebration.
Families can select a North Bay, South Bay or Full Bay Harbor Tour, and two children cruise free with each paid adult.
To book, visit the Flagship San Diego Harbor Tour page, choose a cruise date and time, and select "Free Child" at checkout for eligible children.
Once onboard, kids can pick up a complimentary Flagship Junior Captain Challenge sheet and see how many San Diego Bay landmarks, ships and wildlife they can identify along the route.
