LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY ENDORSES NO ON MEASURE BB

County Democrats join Inglewood leaders in rejecting the "Billionaires' Bailout" and backing a fair share from the region's largest venues

INGLEWOOD, Calif., Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Los Angeles County Democratic Party has voted to endorse NO on Measure BB on Inglewood's November 3, 2026 ballot. The endorsement puts the county's largest political organization alongside Housing Commissioner Keokia Childress, Planning Commissioner Cheryl Williams, Mayor James T. Butts, community leader Joe Bowers, community advocate Carol Raines-Brown, and faith leaders including Dr. Bishop Johnny J. Young PhD of Miracle Temple Church of God Pentecostal, all of whom have urged Inglewood voters to fill in both bubbles: NO on BB.

Measure BB was placed on the ballot by billionaire stadium interests through a committee sponsored by local sports and entertainment venues. It would end the City of Inglewood's authority to earn revenue from advertising on public property, roughly $8 million a year that currently funds public safety, parks, senior programs and street repairs. The billboards themselves would not come down; only the city's revenue would disappear.

"Measure BB doesn't treat every billboard the same," said Oliver Unaka, campaign manager for Inglewood Residents for Stadium Accountability. "The stadiums' giant screens stay lit while the city's funding goes dark. That is why we call it the Billionaires' Bailout, and that is why Democrats across Los Angeles County are saying NO."

"We are grateful to the Los Angeles County Democratic Party for standing with Inglewood," Unaka said. "This endorsement joins our mayor, our council and school board candidates, our pastors and our neighbors. It shows that NO on BB is not a campaign's position; it is the choice of this community and the leaders this community trusts. Inglewood deserves its fair share, and the decision is not just about billboards or ticket taxes. It is about whether our community keeps the resources to stay safe and strong."
